"When people begin to realize that the world's currencies are propped up by trillions in hollow assets, we'll see an avalanche of investors buying gold and silver to protect themselves from the prospect of worthless paper money. Governments are trying to print their way out of a recession, and it won't work."

"The time to buy is now," Kalata explains. "As demand for precious metals grows, we can expect to see exponentially higher prices creating worsening shortages and then even higher prices. By the time the herd mentality sets in, it may be too late to preserve what you have now, let alone realize any gains." The bigger question is whether future investors will be able to get their hands on any gold or silver at all.

There have been plenty of fair-weather newcomers to the precious metals industry as gold and silver prices have skyrocketed in the past few years. Some say prices have peaked. But Kalata says smarter people realize this is only the beginning. "When currencies fail, only one thing will be accepted worldwide: gold and silver. And only established suppliers who've been in the game long enough will be able to handle the rush."
